DesertXpress

  • A future link between Victorville and Palmdale, CA will connect Las Vegas with the federally designated California High Speed Rail Corridor.
  • Non-stop high speed passenger train service between Victorville, CA and Las Vegas, NV.
  • Approx. 190-miles of new exclusive double track with no grade crossings, primarily adjacent to Interstate 15.
  • Travel time of about 80-minutes with speeds initially reaching 150 mph.
  • Trains will run in 20 to 60 minute intervals.
  • In just the first full year of operation, DesertXpress is expected to carry approximately 5 million people.
  • Project development work began with initial system planning in 2002.
  • The Final Environmental Impact Statement and Final Section 4(f) Evaluation were filed March 2011.
  • The FRA issued a Record of Decision (ROD) on the DesertXpress High Speed Passenger Train project on July 8, 2011.
  • DXE is slated to begin construction in 2012, test operations are scheduled to begin in 2014.
  • Full service is expected to begin by the end of 2016.

 

Funding

  • DesertXpress Enterprises, LLC (DXE) is a group of companies from California and Nevada who have invested over $40 million in private dollars over the past eight years to develop DesertXpress.
  • DXE submitted an application for a $4.9B Railroad Rehabilitation and Improvement Financing (RRIF) loan as part of their financing package.
