In his recent State of the Union address President Obama emphasized just how crucial high-quality infrastructure is for the United States. Historically American infrastructure has been among the worlds finest. Despite this, American engineers have recently given the nation’s infrastructure system a grade of a “D.”

The quality of American infrastructure is relevant now more than ever because the efficient movement of people and goods gives the American economy a significant advantage over global competitors. The President’s pledge to invest in effective, clean, and cost efficient infrastructure such as high speed rail only stands to benefit America.
